Vijay Raghavendra is Indian Kannada actor who won a National Award as a child for acting. Raghavendra is the son of famous Kannada film producer, S. A. Chinne Gowda. He is also related to the actor and singer Rajkumar and is the cousin of the actors Shivarajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar, and Puneeth Rajkumar.

Passion For Acting

He was very passionate about acting. So he concentrated on studies later and jumped to film acting after proper training in acting school at Chennai.

A Successful Child

His acting career started in the year 1982 with the movie Chalisuva Modagalu. He worked aside his uncle Rajkumar and actress Ambika in this movie. His next release was Chinnari Muttha. The move was a huge hit and Vijay became a household name. Then he appeared in numerous roles during 1980’s and 1990’s as a child artist and the movie, Kotreshi Kanasu earned him National award for the best child actor in the year 1994.

A Born Actor

As a hero his debut movie was ‘Ninagaagi’, he was successfully launched aside another debutant actress Radhika in 2002,  which was a box office blockbuster.

The film was a remake of Telugu hit Nuvve Kavali which screened for above 100 days and created a record.

Failures Never Let Him Down

Following this success, he signed two more movies– Prem Khaidi and Romeo Juliet in the same year which could not succeed at the box-office. His recent film 'Kallarali Hoovagi' put him back to the driver seat for his punching performance.He has acted in many movies since then. His notable movies are Rishi, Khushi, and Kaaranji.

Vijay did not have a single release in 2010. His much delayed films Shraavana, Vinayaka Geleyara Balaga and multi-starrer Kalla Malla Sulla released in 2011 with the latter two films earning favourable reviews. In 2012, he starred again in a multi-starrer comedy Snehitharu which received mixed response at the box-office.

The Turning Point

In 2013, Vijay was a contestant of the much talked about Kannada version of the reality show Bigg Boss in its first season and was declared a winner, by which he has achieved a whole new level fame.

In 2015, he starred in a biographical Shivayogi Sri Puttayyajja and won the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor.

The Multi-Talented

Vijay Raghavendra will turn director with his upcoming movie Kismat, in which he is playing the lead role as well. Sai Kumar will be seen in a guest role and the rest of the cast includes Tabla Nani, Dilip Raj, and Nanda. He has launched his own production house on wife Spandana’s name. Under his own banner of Spandana Srishti, he will also be producing this movie.He has also a singer and led his voice in few movies

For a long time now, National award winner Vijay Raghavendra had wanted to try his hand at direction and now finally under his banner, has got that chance.
