Deepak M. P who was a Graphic and Web designer professionally is now the Art director, Choreographer, and CEO of Hrishyami Dance Company. He has always been passionate about dancing since childhood and that ultimately led him to take up dancing as his full-time profession. Completing Bachelors degree from St. Joseph’s and a Diploma in Animation, he worked in a software company for 7 years and then he started to follow his passion that resulted in becoming a successful dancer and choreographer. Motivations And Inspirations To Dance
At a tender age, Deepak lost his father and to support his mother and sister he had to take up a 9-to-5 IT job. But he was keen on dancing right from his childhood and never lost his passion but continued to dance all through that period of time. He believes the practice of yoga and martial arts are the initial factors that inspired him to dance and made him more creative to allow him to take his creativity to the next level.
Deepak derives inspiration from observing everything around him. He gets inspired by each and every activity he does or anything he sees, from spotting a tree or from the shape of human body, even riding a bike. According to him, a human body is an art form too. He firmly believes that any sort of creativity lies in observation and it is a 24x7 process in a continuous mode.
When Deepak decided to quit his job to start his own dance institute everyone turned against him but he believed that he belonged to this art form and that what kept him going through all these difficulties. He thinks that these pressures made him a stronger and responsible person and his intense zeal for dancing is the key to his success.

Visualization: A Vital Part Of Choreography
Deepak thinks that visualization is an important facet of choreography and each person visualizes and perceives a particular thing in different ways. So to be a good choreographer one person needs to observe and research a lot, he/she needs to be like a dictionary. The choreographer needs to explain the story to the dancers for them to understand and perform on it.
Style Of Choreography
Deepak expertise in various dance forms such as Bollywood, Contemporary, and Hip Hop etc. As per his own style of choreography, he starts with simple warm ups and movements such as martial arts and yoga and then it just starts flowing.
Choreography: A Trending Profession
Deepak thinks that in present times choreography is a viable career option and there are a lot of promises in this field. With so many reality shows going on there are many big opportunities and the dance scene is really booming here. He believes that if you have your heart at the right place you will definitely find the support and will continue to grow.

Deepak believes that research is involved with choreography to a large extent. For instance, you need to understand the body knowledge of a dancer, the concept that you choose, how to keep up the flow, how to explain the story through choreography, to understand the type of music, and how to keep up the flow with the music.

Body Weight: Not A Hindrance
Deepak thinks that everything has to combine right from the mind and then body to your soul to start dancing and choreographing. He believes that body shape or being overweight cannot be an obstacle for dance and anybody can dance. He added God has gifted us with a body with which we can take up dancing if we find the correct motivation and passion.
Music: A Dominant Aspect In Dance
Music plays a major role in dancing and according to Deepak while listening to music it helps him to understand the rhythm and beat which results in to choreograph a dance in his own mind. When he was in the sixth standard he started to learn to make music from his mouth and nails which eventually resulted in learning the art of beatboxing. It helped him to understand music and beats well and that helped to enhance his skills of choreography.
Dance: An Alternative For Fitness
Deepak suggests that dance is a great way to fitness as it helps to reduce weight. We get through a lot of stress in our daily life and Deepak believes that dance helps to take out our frustrations and relax. As dance requires a lot of stamina it also takes care of our diet and to be fit to dance we need to include many protein foods and eat quality food every day.

Deepak is a burning example who follows his passion and he recommends the dance enthusiasts that it is important to have an idea, a dream, consistency, and perseverance. They need to research on dance, work with various choreographers in different platforms and overall have to have more knowledge. One needs to learn about the art, love it and respect it and the teacher and fellow artists and then everything will fall in place and don’t force anything on anyone.
