"Being fat and talented are among the reasons I'm successful today.” - Bharti

This is the type of positive attitude female comedienne Bharti Singh has on her life. Charming the globe with her comedy, Bharti is one of the highest paid and recognized comediennes in the nation. A female to become an ace comedienne was not at all an easy choice, but Bharti was not the one to give up that easily. Let’s revisit her struggles and get inspired by her.

Her Struggle Days

Born into a middle-class family in Punjab, Bharti did not have a normal and a luxurious childhood. She was just 2 when her father died and her mother was left to handle three kids all by herself. Being a strong woman, Bharti’s mother preferred to struggle rather settling down with anyone else. Bharti was left with no choice but to be a warrior and saviour of her family. She is no less than a son in her family. Body shame didn’t seem to be a problem for her. She on the contrary always thought that fat was beautiful. In fact, she attributes her success to three factors - weigh, her talent, and her mother.

While in college, she was passionate about pistol shooting and archery. She excelled in the same and won gold medals in pistol shooting and archery at the national level. But she had to leave her passion as her family could not afford it.

“I will start my training again very soon. I feel if we have talent, we should not waste it as we are blessed with so many opportunities around.” – Bharti

A Phone Call Changed Her Life

During college, she got the news of auditions for The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. She gave the audition getting scared as it was in a hotel. She was well prepared to keep safety measures. After 15-20 days when she was gradually giving up hope, she got a life-changing phone call from Endemol Shine Production house. They informed her that she was shortlisted and she had to come to Mumbai. Her family was not in any state to spend a little extra money, but it was not needed as the production house paid for their flight.

The concerned society as it always does supported Bharti too by notifying her mother that if she goes to Mumbai she would all the more not get married. As it is anyways doubtful seeing her weight and being a fatherless child. Her mother took the risk and not caring much about the society, accompanied her to Mumbai to give a chance to her talent. She was the second runner-up of stand-up comedy reality series (Season 4) on STAR One, where she received acclaim for her comedy characters including a child character named "Lalli".

“My brand of humour is clean and sensible. I stay light years away from double meaning jokes. According to me, when there is no material left, comedians resort to double jokes to make the audience laugh!” - Bharti

Fat Is Beautiful

“I always wanted to go to the army. But thanks to my mother, desi ghee ke dabbe nikalte gaye. Aur meri sehat banti gayi. Today, I'm proud to say that it is because of my weight that I have reached this far. And it's also because of my weight that I can flirt with big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, SRK. A slim girl wouldn't be able to do what I do.” – Bharti

The body shame didn’t discourage Bharti, it in a way encouraged her in looking the world positively. Even when companies offered her for free packages she didn’t budge in. She got the most appreciation and recognition all over the nation because of her body. Bharti was always a fat kid but instead of shame, she got rewards for the same.

Shining High

Bharti Singh rewarded by several prestigious awards, now making her entry into yet another dance show after Jhalak and she is absolutely good. An all-rounder as she is, she is seen dancing in Nach Baliye 8 along with her fiance Harsh Limbachiyaa. The couple is charging about 30 Lakhs per episode for being on the show, and that's the highest amount being paid to any celeb Jodi this season. Owning several cars of big brands and endorsing so many brands, she is shining high, making the whole nation laugh and making them less stressful. After a busy and tiring day, Bharti’s comedy really helps.
